We WILL Remember

Last week was long and draining,
and that might be an understatement.

Late Wednesday night/early Thursday morning
one of my co-workers, Will Jones, lost his battle with cancer.

He was diagnosed almost three years ago
and courageously fought the fight every day since.
The summer he was diagnosed was the same summer I was hired,
so I was not nearly as close to him as some of my colleagues.

The end of last week was tough, to say the least.
Thursday was the hardest.
Students, teachers, administrators, and counselors
gathered together to mourn our loss.

As an art teacher, I felt it only appropriate to have students
collaborate and express themselves through art.
I am so proud of the products they produced.
One class made the "Will Power forever" sign and
asked the whole school to participate by adding their hand-prints.
It was touching to see their leadership and thoughtfulness during this difficult day.
