Molly used her concentration portion of her portfolio

to create a dramatic narrative emphasizing the tension between mankind and nature.

She used paper mache to create all the branches, and had a peer model her installations.

 

The result is inspiring and impactful.

I am so proud of her.

 Justice created abstract paper mache forms inspired by nature.

His drew a unique linear pattern on the surface of each piece.

Molly explored line and movement through the use of PVC pipes

to create these whimsical, abstract pieces.

Sam explored abstraction through geometric shapes using foam core board.

He intentionally played with balance and contrast in each of his sculptures.

 

 

 

AP 3D Portfolios

This school year I had the honor of teaching 24 students in Advanced Placement 3D Art.

I have taught this class for several years, but never with this many students at once. 

In previous years, I have ranged from having 6-12 students.

Each student must submit 38 photographs of their work in a digital portfolio

to the College Board, so to say this year has been a chaotic is quite the understatement.

With over 900 images to select and manage, 

we have finally reached the climatic end of the course

and submitted student work to College Board.

This year's student work is some of the strongest I have seen. 

I can't wait to share with you.

Student Work: AP Art Show

Last night I hosted the first annual NOHS AP art show.

The student artists invited their friends and family to view their portfolios.

We celebrated all they have accomplished this year

with an evening of cookies, chips, and soda pop.

^^^ GG made an appearance, ^^^

but had to leave early with her gingham twin to eat dinner.

I am so incredibly proud of my students for pushing through this school year.

We had 11 snow days this winter! 

They were appreciated at the time, 

but they significantly impacted the pacing of my AP class 

since the submission deadline was not adjusted.

These students pushed and pushed through the spring

when most other students started slacking.

Their artwork is unbelievable impressive.

My body may be tired, but my heart is incredibly full.
