As you all know, I am teaching a new class this year: 3-D Art.
I am definitely a little nervous about this because I was never too good with sculpture myself.
However, I am excited to discover and learn along with the students.
I have been hunting for contemporary sculptors that I think will interest them,
and by golly I think I have found a killer artist.
Mary Button Durrell is a San Francisco based artist and creates everything out a paper and wheat paste.
Her abstract, organic structures are hand built by layering piece upon piece.
The end result is nothing short of awe-inspiring, beautiful work.
Many of her sculptures are reminiscent of cellular membranes, skeletal structures, and underwater organisms.
