For the next five days I will be in Chicago
attending the Advanced Placement Summer Institute (APSI)
at the Art Institute of Chicago.
*******
I am really nervous because I have never taught an AP course
nor have I traveled to Chicago solo.
This coming school year I have 13 students enrolled in AP 3-D.
They have to create 18 quality pieces to submit in their portfolio.
{That is a lot to ask of a high schooler in one school year.}
On top of just creating the 18 pieces,
10 must be in the form of a series or "concentration".
{That is a very sophisticated idea to ask of any beginning artist,
let alone to ask of teenagers.}
But you know,
I am up for the challenge!
Life is too boring without challenges.
So, I am going to put on my big girl pants and be brave.
I will face this week with confidence, an open mind,
and an eagerness to learn.
Oh, and...
since my bro and his family live near Wrigley field,
I will be staying with them for the week.
Which means,
MORE MACKLIN TIME!
That will keep me motivated even if APSI
turns out to be as intimidating as I imagine.
Wish me luck!
