While in Charleston,
Alex and I visited a (much admired) local artist
in hopes of finding the perfect painting to serve as our anniversary gift to each other.
Lulie Wallace's studio is located in downtown Charleston
and was such a delight to find.
Her dynamic paintings came even more to life
while standing in front of hundreds of them
grouped together on her tiny studio walls.
It took us a while but we finally decided on two small and one medium painting
to hang in a cluster right outside of our bedroom.
I absolutely lu-huv walking by these beauties
first thing every morning and last thing every night.

In addition to hanging our newly beloved paintings,
we made our favorite dinner at home
and exchanged small gifts the week of our anniversary.
My gift to Alex was a year of dates.
We are terrible about "dating" each other.
We both agree it is imperative to make time for each other
but tend to get lost in our busyness way too often.
In order to force us out of the habit,
I made an envelope for each month of the year
and wrote a date on the back.
Each envelope (two index cards glued together)
has enough money to cover the date.
I am pretty excited to start "dating" again!
And I am thinking I might recycle these envelopes year after year
so we don't fall into another date-drought again.
