The Honest Truth: Oy Vey!

Last night, Alex and I had quite the little unexpected adventure.
And ... Oy Vey is right!

After dinner we decided to ride our bikes around town.
We had a swell time as we explored our surrounding neighborhoods
and decided to end the night by meeting friends at Lula's for some {delicious} froyo.

We locked our bikes to a nearby tree
and enjoyed our cold treats and the company of friends
until Lula's closed at midnight.
As we were saying our goodbyes,
Alex tried to open our bike lock without success.
We were baffled.
There is only one combination it could be,
{I mean, it is our combo for everything},
so we knew the combination was not forgotten.
It must have accidentally reset.

OY!

Our friends stayed and tried to help us by attempting every combination possible.
We searched for police officers on Bardstown Road with no avail.
After about 20 minutes of unsuccessful attempts,
our decision was made.
We had to cut the bike lock.

Our friends dropped us off at home
where Alex gathered all the sharp tools in our garage.
He and I drove back to Lula's
where we began Operation Break Bike Lock.

We, and I mean mostly he, sawed, clipped, and clamped the lock.
It was encouraging at first because he was able to cut through the
lock's plastic exterior relatively easily.
It was the thousands of woven metal wires inside the plastic
that proved to be quite the challenge.

After nearly 30 minutes of incessant gnawing away at the wires,
Alex broke through the bike lock.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just in time, might I add, for some passerby's to congratulate us on,
"Jacking those bikes."
I wanted to explain to them our whole saga
but it didn't seem like they would really take interest.
So we laughed embarrassingly.

Alex put his bike in the car and drove home
but since there wasn't room for both bikes,
I had to bike it home solo at 1:15AM.

Needless to say, we slept in mighty late this morning
and have officially concluded:
we are MORONS!
