My dad's all-time favorite
ice cream flavor is pistachio.
In less than a week,
he turns the big
6-0.
To honor him
and his great sixty years,
my brother, sis-in-law, hubby, and I
are throwing him a party on Saturday.
Lucky for my daddio {and for me},
my bro inherited his mad kitchen skills.
Brett is going to recruit Alex as his sous chef,
while I am on decorating and dessert duty.
{Crystal will be in charge of the most important
addition to the party, Mr. Macklin.}
While I am acutely aware of my deficiency in all things kitchen/cooking/food/recipes,
I decided to challenge myself for this very special occasion.
My sweet friend, Amanda, recommended this AWESOME ice cream recipe book.
The recipes in this book are super fancy
and perfect for foodies on any occasion
or for me (the opposite of a foodie)
who is trying to impress a family full of foodies.
I read the recipe several times before beginning and then
follow the recipe line by line.
I had several mishaps along the way
but in the end it all turned out better than I could have ever expected.
It is by far the best pistachio ice cream I have ever tasted
and I CAN.NOT.WAIT. to dish it out
to my food-loving family
and watch them react to the decadence that I can finally say I made!
*DISCLAIMER: I gave absolutely no credit in this post to my husband, Alex,
who ended up doing just as much, if not more, to make this recipe a reality.
