Last weekend I was commissioned to paint two murals on a nursery wall.
It was all arranged by the husband as part of a a surprise baby shower for his wife.
He took her shopping at the outlets while I got busy painting in the nursery.
People were in and out of their house all day
setting up the nursery, decorating their house with balloons and streamers,
and delivering food and treats for the shower.
At one point I went downstairs and there was a balloon man
creating Noah's ark and filling it with balloon animals.
It was quite the affair.
The couple left their house around 10AM and were expected to return by 6:30PM.
At first, I thought that was going to be plenty of time to paint the two murals he had asked for.
But as the day went on, I quickly realized it was going to be a time crunch.
Time crunch it was!
I wanted to add more details to the sky of Noah's ark
but there was absolutely no time.
To make things go a little faster,
I drew up the designs before arriving to their house.
Before painting, I used transfer paper to trace the exact drawing onto the wall.
I did not stay for the party
(after 7.5 straight hours of painting
I couldn't imagine doing anything but showering and crawling in bed for a nap)
but I heard she cried when she saw the paintings.
I will take that as a positive thing ;)
especially since they have asked me to return this weekend to add some monkeys to the room!
