Now that my bump is starting to show,
I am gearing up to wear maternity clothes full-time.
It has been an enlightening experience learning about
this entire section of clothing that I used to avoid.
I have been rather appalled by the prices
since I will only be wearing these clothes for less than half a year
but totally impressed with the style and choices.
Gap Body has become my new best friend since they now have
a maternity section in stores
(if you are in the area,
it's only at the Summit location)
and
AH-MAZING clearance sales.
I have been able to purchase several tanks and tees for under $5/pop.
Indulging myself a little, I also bought some cords that I am lu-hu-ving.
(Seriously, I might wear these after I am pregnant!
Watch out Thanksgiving 2013!)
* * * * * *
But I am in need of advice...
Local mamas -- where did you get cute local maternity loot?
Far away mamas -- what online resources were the best for maternity wear?
Did you find yourself wearing more dresses and skirts or sticking to pants and tops?
What were your favorite pieces?
Anything that you couldn't have lived without?

well i'm not a mama or soon-to-be mama.....but i have and currently work at a maternity boutique. HA. we do sell expensive clothes & the good brands are : Japanese Weekend, Olian, Maternal America, Jules & Jim, Michael Stars (designer that is one size fits most), Ingrid & Isabel....you can find them online if you google several stores. One store in Nashville (Pickles and Ice Cream) is a franchise and they carry a lot of cute stuff and have an online store too!!!
I would say you have to invest in pants. a good dress pant in black and a good pair of jeans (i know Paige and Citizens of Humanity premium denim are great but $$$) and it's up to you if you like the belly panel or ones without (below belly)....some jeans even have extender buttons like kids clothes do.....
really when it comes to advice for maternity and even baby stuff..... it's really up to your and their comfort. every woman is different. every body is different. and how you will grow will be different. there is no ONE SET rule. some like clingy clothes, others like billowy things, but most every gal loves dresses. easy. comfy. lol
Target has maternity.
Anne Taylor has maternity online only.
GAP and Old Navy in certain stores....
borrowing clothes from friends
and consignment are good places to look too!!!
if you're in between try and Ingrid and Isabel Bella Band. it's a good transitional thing to get your normal pants into maternity and then to transition post pregnancy back into your normal pants (instead of the hairband/button loop thing)....looks kind of like a chopped off cami tank that you put over your pants....but then again some women didn't like them......
I wore lots of dresses. I never found pants I loved that were comfortable as I continued to um expand. J Crew has great shift dresses and so does Banana. Also, their long sleeve shirts are extra stretchy and long enough to cover the bump, even up to the end. I wanted to stick with things I could wear after pregnancy, too. Basically, I got creative...and picky! Hope that helps!
