So, we move into our new house Saturday.
This is causing just the slightest bit of anxiety
considering we ripped up the existing hardwood floors last weekend,
thinking we had a hardwood floor lined up and ready to be put in early this week,
only to discover we did not in fact have flooring ready to be put in this week.
Yes folks, that means we are moving into our new home without floors.
We decided to leave the wood on the stairs.
Eventually, our plan is to re-stain the wood,
re-paint the front of the stairs white,
and put a runner going up the entire flight of stairs.
But all of that will have to occur on some other rainy day,
we have bigger fish to fry at the moment.
The current flooring is now the sub floor.
I know these pictures make it look "not-so-bad"
but trust me when I say they are a little rough.
There are nails sticking up from some of the boards
and gaps between planks big enough for creatures to crawl through.
{I have daynightmareddreamed about
mice, snakes, moles, badgers, skunks, etc.
-- you get the picture --
joining us in our dining room as
we sit down for our first dinner in the new house
or worse while we are entertaining.}
I am thankful to have that wretched blue carpet up and
the smell of smoke that went with it but
life will be much better when these beautiful slats
are installed some time in the next two weeks.
