After a few weeks of observational drawing,
my Art 1 students learned the basics of watercolor.
At the end of the unit, they combined their observation skills
with their newly acquired watercolor techniques
to create beautiful watercolor still-life paintings.
I assessed my students on the following:
-The accuracy of their contour drawing-
-Their composition and depiction of space-
-The range of value observed and depicted in their painting-
-Their use of watercolor techniques and layering to create accurate colors-
-Craftsmanship-
